<description>Just a quick clear up, John. None of the players that played on the SD Pirates squad in the High school challenge are ranked higher than D3. Christian Oke and Anthony Payne made the jump to D3 this year while Tony Robertson, Mikey Ortiz, and Jordan Poniachik all play D4. Technically none are APPA ranked higher than D4. I just wanted to clear that up as I heard many different comments regarding the ranking of the pirates players from people on the sidelines, including that they were ALL D2 players. The SD Pirates as an organization realize that as a result of our success and commitment to high level tournament paintball, we have a big target on our backs. I just hope that people recognize the heart and dedication that all our players, from D4 up to D1,give to this sport and applaud them, rather than resent them for it. I agree that my team had an advantage in the experience category, but they were all high school students just like everyone else, shooting the same paint as everyone else, under the same rules as everyone else, being enforced by the same referees as everyone else. I understand that not every game is reffed perfectly and that cheating exists in paintball, but that is the nature of sport. The SD Pirates thank all involved: TCP for holding the event and providing such a nice field to play on, The US ARMY for sponsoring the event and providing the raffle prizes, The event organizers for giving our young paintball players a chance to compete with their peers, the DJ for providing the awesome music (one of the reffs an I had a nice C-walk off going), BodyArmor drinks for the free refreshments, and of course the referees for doing the job nobody wants to do (if your a player an you think you get shot alot, then try being a reff an get back to me) and calling the games as clean and fair as they can. The SD Pirates would also realy like to thank all the teams that competed and showed heart putting it on the line inside the nets. You all should be proud and keep working to figure this awesome game out.
