Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. Then panicking. Then off to his house ringing the door bell at 5:15am. After 6 rings the door opens and I say “What the hell” and we were off to ASG. We get there 30 minutes late and start the first match 15 minutes late. The first couple of matches were a little shaky for us (yeah, yeah – hey we’re new at this) but by the third match, we were humming along. It was awesome to see the best pump teams in the country playing this event. Basically, it was a lot of great friends all hanging out listening to music and our crazy announcer Al Gavi talking about I don’t know what. The Reffing was top notch led by Magdo “Fatboy” Ruvalcaba and the GAT boys and our new statistician JW (John’s Wife) killed on her first outing.

The top dogs of the day were:

3rd – Ronins
4th – Blitz #2

There were some great games all day and we are gearing up for the next one. Sorry I was only able cover 2 matches. I was shooting video but don’t worry. Josh will be putting his gallery up soon. He was the lead photographer for this event.

Almost Famous will be following a raw beginner team comprised of 14-18 year old players that have never played on a team before. They are a little rough, but we are hell bent on getting these kids ready for the 2012 season. They are coached by Trucker Billy of Dye Tactical, Dezhay Caraway and Ryan Nieto formally from Velocity Wrecking Crew. GNAR KILL also helping GOGO out scrimmaging and mentoring the gang.

I just shot my first tournament of the 2012 season. This was the PB Lyfe 3-man tournament down at Camp Pendelton Paintball Park, and I was super excited to go. I stayed up the night before studying how to get there, so I didn’t get lost this time! HA! Take that, you filthy 15 fwy! Confident that I’d make it without getting stuck in the back roads for an hour, I shoved a chocolate covered chewy bar in my mouth, downed a glass of milk, and set off.

Almost Famous Paintball actually entered a team in this event. John from Almost Famous actually guided the team to a first place medal… just kidding, no he didn’t. The team didn’t get podium, but it was still fun watching them play. Blitz was also there with two teams. It’s always nice to see the Blitz guys at events, and they played very well.

Well, Diary…. this is it. 2012 is here, and it promises to bring a ****ton of great paintball. I’m going to be getting a gear upgrade in the next few days, do I’ll be phasing out the old body. This’ll mean more pictures, so WATCH OUT!

I packed the Titan and loaded in Casey, Nate and Sean then down the highway we went. I got to sleep at 1am so 3hrs of sleep and 5hr energy shot it was going to be a good day. Reached the Camp P about 6am and it was still dark and cold as F. The crazy thing was that some people were already there to greet us. One of those was Ricky Axtell who drove to the field the night before and slept in his car. Wow that was some crazy shit.

                       Setting up the gear in the dark at 34 degrees was a bit of a challenge for us Cali boys but with minimal bitching it got done. For some reason certain teams were having troubles so they held us up by 45minutes. The matches started a little late but ran smooth all day long. Al Gavi and our Ultimate Ref Trucker Billy yucked it up all day over the PA system with an occasional chime in from the staging area and the refs.

We would like to thank our personnel starting with Trucker Billy for making the tournament flow, Al Gavi for the comedy relief, GNAR KILL boys Tone, Louie, Glen, Ray, Mark and Phil for reffing. The AF crew Casey, Mabelle and Kevin for working the pit and the Sean, Sehee, Patrick, Jordan, Cole and Nate from GOGO13 for helping out with the field.

 

This was our inaugural event and we feel it will be a juggernaut in next coming year. Thank you to all of our supporters and we’ll see you at the next event.

It’s been a crazy year.  To wrap it all up, I shot the NPPL World Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada.  I went with no pressure on my mind and had a great weekend of shooting some of the best the sport of paintball has to offer.

 I ran into many friends that I met over the 2011 season, including Eugene from Blitz, Oz from PB Addix, and many more guys from So Cal who made the drive or (for the lazy ones like John) flight over.  I must say, Oz had the coolest looking Luxe there… bar none.

 I would have liked to have had my new camera for this event, but I’m sure I’ll get it by Huntington Beach in the 2012 season.  I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again in the upcoming year.  I hope everyone has a great holiday season, and we’ll see you at the first event of the new year at the AFPL tournament in early January.

We had the best turn-out yet and it was packed with great players. A lot of great players from prominent players from Ironmen, SD Mob, Velocity Wrecking Crew, Gnar Kill, SD Heat, GS Pirates and some of the kids from GoGo13. Our guest players were Eric Humphreys and Alex Russell from the Ironmen. The day started off busy with a 40 person deep line at the get go. Mabelle from AF had her hands full but like a pro she got that mob under control. The rest of the day was loud music laughter and just hanging out have a great time. Big thanks to Steve Humphreys for rocking the microphone doing live commentary of the games. Our new Referee’s Cory and Kelly Russell (The Russell Brothers) did an excellent job keeping those games rolling with the help from Sean “Stimpy” Steepy form AF. We also had the our 1st female player  Heidi “Supergirl” Munsch rocking out all day. At the end of the day Occupy Barstow were the days overall killers defeating Camp Pendel Pain. There was an exhibition match against Velocity Wrecking Crew and Gnar Kill which was awesome to see since it very rare to see that many VWC players together. To end the day it was an all out 10 on 10 battle royal. Can’t wait for next year and thank you everyone who has come to an event this year.

Well coming off the crazy 5 day NPPL Vegas odyssey my wife wasn’t to thrilled about me going to another tournament even if it was local. So I begged, pleaded and Sunday was OK.

Well Sunday rolls around and Casey and I are off to Camp P. We hit the field running shooting pictures, rolling the video and hanging with the refs. There was a cool altercation on the field with a lot of yelling and hand gestures. Of course we got it on video and it just might show up in the video.

Let’s get back to the tournament. Our Gnar Kill boys only gave up 1 point in prelims that is fucking amazing. They were spitting hot fire the whole tournament. They have to take 1st this event to take the series. They faced SD Reign another one of our homies in the finals. I believe SD Reign also was undefeated going into the final match. They really stepped it up for this tournament and all the practices paid off. It came down to Gnar Kill and SD Reign in the finals for 1st and 2nd. Gnar Kill took it in two games for 1st place and the series. It was really good to see my friends on that podium J Congratulations to 1st place Gnar Kill, 2nd  place SD Reign, 3rd place The Offmen and  4th place NBK. RPL I will see you next year.

Dear Diary, everything started on a Thursday at 5am picked up by my sister and dropped off at Lindbergh field for a 1hr flight to Vegas. Plane leaves on time and I had to sit bitch at least it was only an hour. I hit the curb and my boys from “The Heat” pick me up at 8:30am. Cory, Ryan and Kelly deliver a story told many times before about strip clubs and blowing all their cash on a stripper named Candy. I check into the Riviera and boy did they tack on the fees all I can say FUCK YOU Riviera.

After settling in I headed to the field check out things. Saw a bunch of familiar faces John and Jerry from Kamandag, Blake and OZ from Paintball Addicts and a bunch of random peeps. For some reason I went to the captain’s meeting in hopes of hearing some news about the merger but no dice. The first night ended at Circus Circus Buffet with “The Heat” I had a feeling it wouldn’t be that great since there was no line to get in.

Friday morning off to the races it was cold overcast a very ugly day to shoot pictures. Diary I’ve never been shot in the neck and head so many times. A funny thing happened during a pump match against the Hench Men starring Chuck Hench (one of the owners of the league) and Kamandag apparently Chuck took off his barrel condom too soon and was ejected from the game. Wow that took balls to make that call I commend the Ref for his professionalism. I ran into Feddy and Nita from FUZION. Feddy was playing PRO with Explict which is really cool to see. That night I hung out with Glen and Bryan from Dye and got some all you can eat Korean BBQ which was very good.

Saturday the sun came out and it got quite warm. The shot of the day was of LVPP.Net their snake player gets bunkered then like superman a LVPP flew over the bunker and lit the guy up. Saturday night was players party oh yeah all you can drink Budlite a 20 foot sub sandwich and Lay potato chips. The beer went fast but I pulled off 4 before they ran out. I was sitting with the GNAR KILL boys there guesting for another team. We got a little crazy when we stole the bowl of chips and a huge bowl of onion dip. Oh what a night.

Sunday the last day Diary it felt like I was there for months. I was mainly hanging with The Heat boys they were playing 7man D4 and were mowing faces all day but got killed in penalties in the finals. They took 2nd at the NPPL and took 1st in the D-League series. The cool thing is that 3 out of the top 5 were D-League teams which tells a lot about the integrity of the new league. Overall it was a great time and I can’t wait till next year.
